Firmware Upgrade for iAudio U2
The firmware update must be performed in 'Recovery Mode' if not in 'Recovery mode', update will fail with the following error message:
'Please use 'Recovery mode' to install new firmware! (Recovery mode is entered by holding down the play button during the whole process)

[Installation steps]
(Important notice)
-Do not use a USB hub or any type of device in conjunction with the computer. Use a USB port on the computer directly to connect the device.
-The battery must be at least 1/2 charged.
-Do not turn the computer off during upgrading firmware
Step 1
Download iAUDIO U2 firmware installation file: iAudio U2 FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD
Step 2
Unzip the installation file and execute 'Setup.exe'.
Step 3
Click 'Agree' -> 'Next' -> 'Finish' installing Firmware update program by following the instruction from the installation wizard.
Step 4
While holding down the 'PLAY' button on the iAUDIO, Connect iAUDIO to a PC Using the USB cable.


Step 5
Please hold down the 'PLAY' button until windows begin 'New hardware found' wizard. (Please make sure to hold down the play button during the entire hardware wizard update).
Step 6
Windows will begin 'New hardware found' wizard, and it recognized iAUDIO in recovery mode. Make sure to select to update the hareware automatically and not through a internet update. Also do not restart windows if it asks you to do so. After the hardware wizard update is complete windows will soon display that the iAudio player is being recognized.
Step 7
You can now let go of the play button and start your firmware download program. If you have successfully installed the firmware program it should be located at the following location:
'Start' -> 'All Programs' -> 'Cowon' -> 'iAUDIO U2' -> 'Firmware Download'
Step 8
The program will try and locate the device, once the device is recognized a iAudio U2 firmware download window will display. Click 'Start' to begin installation. Updating firmware will format iAUDIO and erase all data, so make sure to back up all your data before update.
Step 9
Press 'Close' to finish update.
Step 10
Disconnect iAUDIO from the PC, and confirm the new firmware is updated from the information section in the menu.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:
If the unit does not power up after the firmware update please try the following:
- Try using a later version of the firmware on our website.
- Insert a paper clip into the reset hole and allow for the battery to drain for 3 days. Try to update firmware again.
